"I'm an OCT certified English teacher with nearly 20 years experience in the classroom. Presenting yourself well in speaking and writing is vital to success in the working world. I enjoy helping students master the language so they can achieve their goals.“
My name is Henry Drake and I have been an English teacher for over 20 years. I have experience from elementary all the way through high school as well as some university teaching experience and adult ESL. I graduated with my undergraduate English degree from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette (United States) in 1994. I finished my master’s degree in English Education in 2002 which I earned from Alcorn State University (United States). I’m certified to teach in Ontario as well as the United States. My philosophy of teaching writing is to engage students in the writing process through entertaining and informative lessons. When I’m not teaching I spend lots of time with my 10-year-old son and playing music.
This course teaches students how to move beyond the basics of writing (e.g. sentences, paragraphs and essays along with related grammar) and into creative writing, formal writing and how to improve the quality and content of the writing they do in school.
This course will help prepare students for the Writing Section of the SSATs.
