Game Design with Scratch

Game Design with Scratch is a basics and fundamentals course for beginners who have little or no experience with Scratch or game design. Each class beyond lesson 1will have students program and deliver a brand new mini game that hones their fundamentals in programming and game design basics. By the end of the course, students will have completed a maximum of 5 games that they can share and play with others.

• Animation

• Problem solving and puzzle logic 
• Design  

8-weeklesson plans:

Lesson1: Intro to scratch and a basic collection game 

Lesson2: Creating A brick Breaker Game 

Lesson3: Creating a flappy bird clone (X,Y movement, Vectors, and resetting objects) 

Lesson4: Flappy Bird Continued (Costumes and rotation) 

Lesson5: Creating a Mario Run Clone

Lesson6: Mario Clone Continued

Lesson7: Creating a Space Shooter Game

Lesson8: Space Shooter Continued

End-of-Course Project: 1 animation and 4-5 mini games using Scratch.

IMPORTANT Students will not be able to take the course without basic knowledge of their computer, file system and internet browser  

IMPORTANT Students will need to make a Scratch account via https://scratch.mit.edu/joinbefore the first class. This requires them to have a valid email address ANDCONFIRM the email with Scratch.
