About this course

Do you want to enhance your French skills but find traditional French classes boring? Do you find speaking in French intimidating or scary? Do you enjoy being creative? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this is the class for you! This course will give students the opportunity to practise their listening, speaking and writing French skills while creating beautiful works of art.

Please note this is subject to change based on the interests of students.

Each lesson will be divided into three main components; a lesson (20-30 minutes) , an art activity (40-50 minutes) and a discussion (10-20 minutes). At the beginning of each class, students will be introduced to either a particular artist (such as Pablo Picasso, for example) and/or an artistic skill (i.e., form). Next, we will identify the materials that we need in order to recreate this piece or use the style in question. Together as a class, we will then create our own work of art using step-by-step instructions. Finally, students will be given the opportunity to share their creations to the class. Of course, all components (including the sharing portion) will be in French but don’t worry, this is a safe space and a template (in addition to time and assistance) will be provided!
